The Bittersweet Beauty of Watching Your Child Grow: A Mother's Perspective

Motherhood is a journey filled with countless highs and lows, joys and challenges. From the moment your child is born, you embark on a rollercoaster of emotions that you never could have imagined. And while many aspects of motherhood are talked about and prepared for, there is one aspect that often catches us off guard - watching our child grow. It's a bittersweet experience that no one can truly prepare you for.

Of course we know that our child will grow up but as you are marking those milestones off it really starts to hit you. Over the last couple of weeks, my son Oscar, who is now almost 16 months old, has started walking, saying a lot more and we do actually understand some of it, and has really begun to show his independence. But on the flip side of that, is quite clingy and doesn't like seeing us go.

What's hit me though is how you are kind of grieving through each phase and it's an odd experience. I was having a conversation with my sister about it, she has 4 kids herself, and I said it's strange because I am so proud of him and who is becoming but at the same time, I want him to stay his little self, who doesn't move all over the place when you place him down haha!!

It really is amazing how fast each stage goes. This stage that we are in is a lot of fun but also I think my grey hairs are growing and I am sure when we move into the next one, I will just have to cope with the almost heart attacks of watching an excited little boy dive off things, climb and go fast.
