Introduction
It's spring! I am so excited. I love spring. I was born in spring and I just think that whole “sunny days but not hot days where you can wear jeans and a t-shirt” are the best days. After the winter and the darkness of the weather suddenly if everything feels so nice and light and you start to feel like you want to do things, not just hibernate inside and I don't know what.
What does spring entail for you? For me, it's birthdays (quite a few family ones including my own). It is the feeling that something good is coming and I think that's the end of year or summer break for us in Australia. The weather and the light bring happiness. Happiness from the sun and the lighter evenings and days and this makes us happy to do things. So what does this bring into your head?
First of all it makes me think I want to get outside. I start to feel a little bit more comfortable actually doing exercise or wanting to get out or whatever and two, it makes me feel like cleaning.
Spring Cleaning
So are you a big spring cleaner? Do you go “It's spring I need to clean the house from top to toe, scrub everything, clean out clothes and excess toys or things that you just have laying about. Does spring bring this out in you?
I have to say and I would believe most of you would feel the same, house cleaning is not the my most favourite thing in the world. Look I know that it's super important and I also have a baby who is about to crawl and so cleanliness is important. I get to a certain point and I can't leave things as they are anymore. It’s not that we are dirty but my husband and I just have so much stuff and sometimes it just doesn't have a place but when this change in season comes around I really do want to get into the cleaning.
How about you? What are your thoughts on cleaning? Do you have a plan when it comes to cleaning?
What's Your Cleaning Plan?
What is your plan when it comes to cleaning? Do you do a certain bed each day so you've done a little bit each day? Or do you do it in one foul swoop and go through the whole house? Do you have a massive cleanup day, chuck things out and clean?
I'm more of a “have to do it a little bit by little bit” person because well I have a child and I'm working so it's hard to do everything at once. And you have to remember that once you start cleaning out something, then you often have things displaced and they then have to be put somewhere. And unless you are a really good person at throwing stuff away (which in our house neither of us are) things just accumulate and then get moved moved to a new spot so you’ve got to gradually work your way through.
Do you follow a list or sheet? Do you start with room by room? Do you clean all the bathrooms and wet areas first or do you do that regularly anyway so you don't feel like you need to deep clean those areas? What about windows? I noticed that just the windows in especially the bathrooms are starting to just look a little bit like even just a little bit almost mouldy. It's not mould but it just looks a little bit gross so they need a really good wipe down and disinfect so that everything's clean and tidy there (I have actually now done this with GlassGuard Miracle Mould Removal Gel and it was AMAZING!! Check it out!)
There are so many parts of the house. But If you can just tidy an area, you start to feel a bit better and then you want to do more. Alternatively, You might not be a cleaner at all and you get a cleaner in. I'd love to know what your thoughts are on your cleaning or do you get someone else to clean?
I've decided to follow a quick plan because I think that ticking off each room or gradually moving through each room might be the best option to work on the things that really need cleaning first. One of the funny things about suddenly having a child that's crawling is you get down on their level and you realise that you probably let a few things go underneath the couches and stuff like that. So for me it's important to get all the areas where Oscar is, really clean and then sort of work my way up. But what works for you?
Favourite Products?
Do you use a certain cleaning product? It's such a funny thing, isn't it? You know you’re an adult when you start talking about what cleans the best and you're excited about it. I have Norwex mops and cloths, which are great. But then I also use Skipper products. I really like their all-purpose cleaner and their hand washes and laundry sheets plus it helps the environment. It is nice to be doing something for the environment while also cleaning my house.
And as I mentioned earlier the GlassGuard Miracle Mould Removal Gel is my fave at the moment! It has made my shower look new again. Is there anything particular that you use or any special techniques?
