Introduction:
Last weekend my Mum and my sisters and I were able to get away for a little getaway. My Sisters and I have been doing this for the last couple of years and it's a chance to rest and catch up properly with each other, chat, eat and of course giggle. This time we invited our mum as a special for her birthday and also my son Oscar came along to be the centre of attention haha!
We headed to a holiday house in the South Australian town of Goolwa where there is a nice by the water feel, it’s close to the beach and numerous beach towns. Walks, card games, movies, reading and cups of tea ensue. I have been looking forward to this for awhile, but it was a bit different bringing a 7 month old along. We had to bring SO MUCH STUFF!!! It was hilarious actually but you can imagine just how much the baby needs and then me and bedding and food …..the list goes on. But we fit in the car and we were on our way.
Check out the List Below for some inspiration and favourites when travelling!
The weather over the weekend turned out to be quite nice, sunny but cool most of the time which is actually great weather for walking and exploring or just staying in too.
We walked down by the water with the marina and the riverboats and found one called Oscar which was cute.
Saturday was spent around the house, a walk around the town and just enjoying the slower pace. Oscar enjoyed hanging out and getting attention from his aunties and Nana.
Sunday we headed into Victor Harbor. We explored the beachside Markets, headed over to Granite Island, Oscar saw the beach for the first time and played on the grass and we ate some delicious Mexican food for dinner.
Then we headed home for a hilarious, giggly session of card games. This session included Taco, Cat, Goat, Cheese, Pizza, and Nerds. Have you played either of those games??
We find that Nerds especially makes us laugh but the more tired we get the funnier everything is and it is good to laugh that hard. Therapeutic actually even when the tears masked the cards haha!!
On Monday we cleaned the house, packed up and went for brunch at the Cafe, Jack’s Place, in the main street of Goolwa. Oscar decided mid drink he was going to pull off and knock my fresh coffee all over the table and me which caused a flurry of activity and a little boy giggling to himself. But ended the weekend with another funny memory.
Self Care Weekend
The weekend was simple, slow paced and self care. To escape home for a bit (even with a 7 month old) was so lovely and I need to plan some more getaways.
Do you have a favourite quick getaway? Or a favourite game that you like to play? I’d love to know!
