Simple Ways to Start Planning Your Mum Life (Even in Mid-January!)

January 26, 20253 min read

Hey there!

Can you believe we're already halfway through January? I know what you're thinking - "I've already missed the boat on New Year's resolutions and getting organised!" But here's the thing: there's never a wrong time to start taking better care of yourself and getting your life in order. In fact, sometimes waiting until the New Year buzz dies down can help us make more realistic, sustainable changes.

Start of Year Meme about procrastination

I've been thinking a lot about this lately, especially as I watch so many of us trying to juggle ALL. THE. THINGS. Between school runs, meal prep, doctor appointments, activities, and trying to squeeze in some self-care (what's that, right? 😉), it's no wonder we sometimes feel like we're barely keeping our heads above water.

But here's what I've learned: writing things down makes such a huge difference. Not just in keeping track of everything, but in actually feeling more in control of our days. When it's all swimming around in our heads, it feels overwhelming. But getting it down on paper? That's like letting out a big, deep breath we didn't even know we were holding.

Planning Tips

Here are some simple ways to start building better planning habits (even if you're thinking "but I'm not a planner person!"):

1. Start small. Pick just one area of your life to focus on first - maybe it's meal planning, or tracking your kids' activities. Don't try to organise everything at once.

2. Make it part of your routine. Maybe it's Sunday evening after the kids are in bed, or Monday morning with your coffee. Find a quiet moment that works for you.

3. Keep it visible. Having your planner where you can see it (I keep mine on the kitchen counter!) makes you more likely to actually use it.

4. Don't aim for perfection. Some weeks you'll fill out everything beautifully, other weeks it'll be messy scribbles. Both are perfectly fine!

And speaking of planners... I'm SO excited to finally share something I've been working on! drum roll
