New Year, New... Actually Sustainable Cleaning Habits? Yes, Please!

Okay, can we talk about that fresh New Year energy? You know the one—where you suddenly feel like you're going to meal prep every Sunday, never leave dishes in the sink, and somehow transform into a person whose home always looks Instagram-ready?

Yeah, me too. Every. Single. Year.

But here's the thing: last year at this time, I wasn't riding that optimistic New Year wave. I was drowning in a sea of tiny socks, mystery stains, and the kind of laundry pile that could legitimately be classified as a geological formation.

The Overwhelm Was Real

After having my second baby, I felt SO behind. Like, perpetually behind. The mess felt never-ending, and honestly? I had no idea where to even start. Every time I cleaned one area, three others seemed to explode. It was like It was like trying to bail out a sinking boat with a teaspoon, and the water was definitely winning.

Some days I'd look around and just want to cry. Or hide. Or both.

Can you relate? (Please tell me I'm not alone here!)

Then I Found Something That Actually Worked

I stumbled across Genius Mom Hacks on Instagram, and her approach just... made sense. She created this ebook called Genius Home Hacks - GET YOUR HOME ON AUTOPILOT IN 7 DAYS! and honestly, it's been a game-changer.

Now, full transparency: I'm still working on implementing everything. This isn't one of those "I did it for a week and now my life is perfect!" stories. But slowly adding these routines into my life has genuinely helped stop the overwhelm in its tracks.

Do I still have days where the mess wins? Absolutely. But it's SO much better now.

What Actually Helped

The genius of this program is that it's all about routines. Not complicated systems that require a label maker and three hours of free time (LOL, what's that?). Just simple, sustainable routines that eventually become automatic.

Here are some of the things that have made the biggest difference for me:

The One Load of Washing a Day Hack: This one alone has been life-changing. Instead of facing Mount Laundry every weekend, I just do one load every day. Wash, dry, fold, put away. Done. It sounds too simple to work, but it WORKS.

Everything Has Its Place (and Its Supplies): The ebook teaches you to keep cleaning supplies in each area of your house. No more running around looking for the bathroom cleaner when you finally have five minutes to wipe down the sink. It's already there. Revolutionary, right?

The Decluttering Section: Because let's be honest, it's way easier to keep things tidy when you're not drowning in stuff you don't need or use. This part helped me let go of things without the guilt.

Bonus Meal & Food Hacks: Because a clean home means nothing if you're staring into the fridge at 5 PM with no dinner plan. These hacks have saved me so many times.

Weekly Prep Tools: These help you actually stay on top of everything without feeling like you need a personal assistant.

The best part? It comes with a seven-day challenge complete with emails and videos that walk you through each new routine. So you're not just reading an ebook and trying to figure it all out yourself—you're being guided through it step by step.

Why This New Year Feels Different

Usually, New Year's resolutions feel like pressure—one more thing I'm going to fail at by February. But this year, I'm approaching it differently. Instead of trying to overhaul everything overnight, I'm just continuing to build on these small, sustainable habits.

Because here's what I've learned: having a clean and organised home isn't about being perfect. It's about having systems that work for YOUR life, YOUR family, YOUR level of chaos (I mean, beautiful mess).

If you're feeling that New Year urge to get your home sorted but you're not sure where to start, I genuinely can't recommend the Genius Home Hacks ebook enough. It's practical, it's doable, and it's designed for real mums with real lives (and real laundry piles).

Here's to a year of less overwhelm and more autopilot cleaning. We've got this! (Most days. Some days we've got cereal for dinner and paper plates, and that's okay too.)
