Navigating skincare during pregnancy can be a bit of a journey, right? At six months pregnant now, I’ve really honed in on a routine that feels safe, soothing, and gives me that little boost of confidence I need—especially on days when I'm feeling more “blah” than beautiful!
In today’s post, I’ll share the products I’m loving at the moment and the skincare steps that feel most supportive. I’ll also link a video I shared recently, where I walk through my full pregnancy routine in real-time, so you can see how each product works for me and why I love it.
If you’re anything like me, the moment those double lines showed up, you probably began rethinking everything going on your skin! Pregnancy-safe skincare is about keeping it simple, avoiding certain ingredients, and really focusing on gentle, nourishing products. Our skin can become extra sensitive (hello, hormonal rollercoaster!), so a little extra TLC goes a long way.
I also want to mention, this routine would work for you ladies not pregnant too :)
1. Gentle Cleanser
I start my routine with a calming cleanser that’s fragrance-free and formulated without harsh chemicals. My skin when can be dry, and at six months, it’s only gotten more reactive. Look for a gentle cleanser that will clean without stripping, keeping that natural glow intact.
I choose to use two cleansers, one in the day and one at night. For night time I have been using the McoBeauty Ultra Clean Cleansing Balm, which is really lovely and a great price! It does have a scent but it is really nice and doesn't seem to affect me. And then in the morning I use the Alpha H Balancing Cleanser which I truly love! No scent, gentle cleansing and hydrating.
2. Nourishing Serum
Serums are my little skincare powerhouse! I’ve been reaching for ones rich in vitamin C (a pregnancy-safe one, of course!) to help brighten, reduce dark spots and protect my skin. Vitamin C is a great way to keep that “pregnancy glow” boosted naturally. One I am loving right now is the Boost Lab Vitamin C Serum. I am really impressed with how their serums work so I encourage you to check them out
I am also using an oil at night, my fave at the moment is Alpha H Golden Haze Oil I am using this along with my Gua Sha tool. Now this practice is great for reducing fluid and puffiness in your face. I am not a pro at it but am enjoying adding it to my self care routine.
3. Moisturiser
My go-to day moisturiser for a while now has been the Alpha H Daily Essential Moisturiser 50+ SPF but I knew I needed something thicker at night. Something rich but non-greasy is ideal—after all, our skin is stretching and changing, so that added hydration really helps. When I heard about the Illiyoon Ceramide ATO Concetrate Cream I knew I had to try it! It is so hydrating and when I wake my skin is smooth and dewy plus it is a huge bottle and you only a little bit.
4. Pregnancy-Safe Sunscreen
Sun protection is so important, especially when you’re pregnant, as our skin can be more susceptible to pigmentation changes. I have 50+ in my daily moisturiser and makeup and for my body I look for mineral-based SPF options that protect without irritation.
